Under this cleanliness campaign volunteers, known as Swatchhagrahis, or “Ambassadors of cleanliness” went to Aqueduct(Indira Canal) Lucknow to do श्रमदान thus collected waste material and asked villagers to inculcate the practice of cleanliness through ODF (open-defecation free) financed by the Government of India as well state governments and for it making of toilets to their residence thereby bringing about a behaviour change regarding sanitation practice and also by improving the management of solid and liquid waste. This campaign could be possible through NSS, a flagship program of NSS. Thus they were able to educate some part of Society about the primary object of the largest cleanliness drive.
