Library is the backbone of an educational institution. The library is a place to visualize future generating ideas and disseminate vast knowledge available in this world. The role of a library in any academic institution is like that of the brain in the human body. The library at Goel Institute of Technology and Management was established in 2008. It is more like Integrated Knowledge Resource Centers that are stocked with more than 32125 books in total; periodicals, references, national and international journals, covering all aspects of academic studies and research materials. For the convenient working, our central library has ultra-modern software which helps to maintain proper records & documentation. The library also has the “E-Library” Section which has the facility of E-Books and E-Journals. The book bank facility provides reference and basic knowledge of the textbook to the students of Group. Having laced with contemporary technology and centralized air-conditioned hall gives a suitable atmosphere to our students for their sound study.

The role of a library in any academic institution is like that of brain in the human body. The Library of Goel Institute of Technology and Management has a well-defined policy for acquisition, usage and disposal of the learning resources supported by a faculty-led team popularly known as Library Coordination Committee, which is empowered to take most of the Library related decisions. The library accepts suggestions from all its stakeholders and decisions are taken on them if found beneficial to the Library services and users.

Objective

Our Objective is to provide World Class Knowledge in all the aspects not only in the subjects but also in other domains. GITM Library has the vision to create lot of research scholars and imbibe enrichment of knowledge updating to the International Standards.

DIGITAL/ E-RESOURCES

The library provides online access to a large number of full-text e-journal/e-books, IEEE, ASME, ASCE, Springer and IESTC DELNET databases through the E-consortium portal My-Loft of AKTU. The digital library also provides online access to journals through the National Digital Library of India and N-List. The details are as follows

National Digital Library of India (NDL)

National Digital Library of India (NDL) The National Digital library of India (NDLI) is a project under the Ministry of Education, The Government of India. The objective is to collect and collate metadata and provide a full-text index from several national and international digital libraries, as well as other relevant sources. It is a digital repository containing textbooks, articles, videos, audiobooks, lectures, simulations, fiction and all other kinds of learning media. It provides all students and faculty to access Books, Thesis, Audio & Video Lectures, Web Courses, E-Journals

National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST)

The Project entitled “National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST)”, being jointly executed by the e-ShodhSindhu Consortium, INFLIBNET Centre and the INDEST-AICTE Consortium. College has subscription of N-List which has hub of books and journals. A college component of E-Shodh Sindhu consortium with access to 6,000+ journals, 1,64,300+ E-books under NLISTand6,00,000 E-books through NDL.

Accessibility to Students, Faculty and Staff

The library is accessible to all students, faculty and staff from 9:00 A.M to 6:00 PM on all working days. During vacations also students can access the library from 9:00 A.M to 3:00 PM. The book borrowing eligibility of the students, faculties and staff are as follows:

LIBRARY RULES & REGULATIONS:

  • Users should maintain silence

  • Mobile Phones are not permitted in the library premises.

  • ID card is mandatory for library access and usage.

  • In case a user loses a book he/she would have to either replace the book or deposit two times the price of the book in the library.

  • Dictionaries, Encyclopedias etc. would not be issued.

  • Library Books can be issued and returned during Library & Lunch Period of the class only and not in any other time.

  • The Librarian reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member found misbehaving, abusing the library staff or behaving in an in an indecent manner.

  • Members shall not bring personal belongings (including Books and other printed material) and library books borrowed by them inside the library.

  • Members are responsible for any damage caused by them to the books or any other property belonging to the library and shall be required to pay the penalty imposed upon them by the Librarian.

  • Members leaving the library should stop at the exit so that the material borrowed or taken out of the library by them may be checked.

  • The Members are responsible for Library borrower card. Loss of Library borrower card should be reported to the circulation section immediately. Duplicate Library borrower card will be issued on payment of Rs. 20/- .

  • Loss of book by the borrower should be reported to the Circulation immediately. They will provide a new books, in case book is not available borrower should pay total cost of book with 10% extra charges.
