Goel Institute of Technology and Management (Polytechnic), Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME), in association with Innovation Cell GITM, organized an educational industrial visit to Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), Lucknow.
More than 70 students actively participated in this industrial visit with the objective of gaining practical exposure to modern metro rail technology and industrial working environments. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world engineering applications.
During the visit, students were introduced to various technical aspects of metro rail operations including power supply systems, traction and electrification, signaling mechanisms, rolling stock maintenance, station management, and safety procedures. Electrical Engineering students learned about power distribution systems, overhead electrification, energy management, and backup systems used for uninterrupted metro operations. Mechanical Engineering students gained insights into train mechanisms, braking systems, ventilation, maintenance practices, and mechanical components involved in metro functioning.
UPMRC officials provided detailed explanations about operational control systems, preventive maintenance strategies, and modern automation technologies used to ensure safe and efficient metro services. Students actively interacted with industry experts and clarified their technical queries.
The industrial visit proved to be highly informative and enriching, enhancing students’ practical knowledge, technical awareness, and understanding of industry standards. Such initiatives play an important role in developing professional skills and preparing students for future engineering careers.
Goel Institute of Technology and Management (Polytechnic), Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Civil Engineering, in association with the Innovation Cell GITM, organized an educational industrial visit to Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), Lucknow.

Civil Engineering students gained knowledge about metro construction technology, structural design, and project execution, while Computer Science and Engineering students learned about automation, networking, surveillance systems, and smart transportation technologies. More than 80 students actively participated in the visit.
UPMRC officials interacted with the students and explained real-time monitoring and operational procedures. The visit enhanced students’ practical understanding and bridged the gap between academic learning and industry practices.
