About the Department
We at the Department of Biotechnology Engineering continuously working to provide quality education to inculcate professional excellence in the students. The department was established in 2014 with a vision to create young skilled bioengineers who can work in the interdisciplinary areas of biotechnology to serve and welfare of the country, society and environment.
Biotechnology is a fast-growing and budding field in the science. Now a day, the scenario of this research-oriented field is changing rapidly and dynamically worldwide. The main objective of this department is to prepare the students for industry and research organizations. We have well-qualified faculties from eminent universities with proven track records of research publications. Faculty members are well trained and efficient for online as well as offline mode of lecture delivery.
The current inclination of research in the department includes Molecular biology, Genetic engineering, Genetics, Plant Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Immunology, Bioprocess technology and Food biotechnology. In order to enhance the research output the department has well equipped state-of-the-art laboratories viz., Genetics & Molecular Biology Laboratory, Genetic Engineering Laboratory, Biochemistry & Analytical Techniques Laboratory, Microbiology & Immunology Laboratory, Food Biotechnology Laboratory, Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, Bioprocess & Fermentation Laboratory, Bioinformatics Laboratory, Nano-Biotechnology Laboratory. Our Institute has also been recognized as an official nodal centre of virtual labs IIT Kanpur (An Initiative of MHRD, Government of India) for virtual laboratory experience among students.
We have strong links with many organizations like CSIR, ICMR, ICAR, MRD Life Sciences, ITLS Academy, Coca Cola, The Royal Honey Bee Farming Society, Acube Lab, IBRI etc. for industrial training and research aptitude among students. We are continuously working for maximum interactions with academia, industry personnel and clinicians to boost young minds by organizing conferences, seminars, workshops, webinars, guest lectures, and industrial visits. Our department motivates and encourages the students for E-learning and online certified courses from many agencies like Spoken Tutorials, NPTEL, SWAYAM, IITs, TCS etc. Our Institute has tie-up with Spoken Tutorials, IIT Bombay for online training among students. Apart from this, our department conducts Personality Development classes for overall growth and better placements of the students. Our students have secured the best places and winner of many international and national competitions.
