The idea of a virtual laboratory is to provide students a chance to perform experiments using the internet and visual aids without having the equipment at their end. The RF and Microwave lab is a good candidate for virtual laboratory as it requires costly equipment such as Ratiometers, Network Analyzers, Waveguides, Resonators, etc. as well as skilled and specialized personnel, which most of the institutes cannot afford. The laboratory experience is obviously an important part of Engineering education, which goes a long way in building up good quality engineers. The Virtual lab program presents a unique opportunity to boost the quality of engineering education, deepen understanding, and provide the necessary practical skills to young minds through cost-effective outreach and distance learning activities.
