A green building is one that uses less water, optimizes energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generates less waste and provides healthier spaces for occupants, as compared to a conventional building. In order to accelerate a step towards the goal of sustainability, IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) students Chapter was initiated at Goel Institute of Technology and Management Lucknow Followed by the inauguration of the “IGBC Student Chapter” in the flagship of CII*on 25th June 2021 at 11:00 am through Google Meet application.

The dignified presence of Mr Ashish Rakheja (Chairman Technical Committee, IGBC), Er. Mahesh Goel ( Chairman, GGI), Mr Amit Srivastava (Co-Chairman, UP section IGBC) and Dr Rishi Asthana(Director, GITM)  enlightened the session with their vision on the importance of Green Building and its impact on the environment.

The key speaker Ms Rekha Chandra elaborated the IGBC schedule regarding different modules like Evaluation parameters, Green building certifications, along with some case studies of green building in India. She discussed the conceptual and technical aspects of green building design for the students wanting to carry their future in this field of construction.

This program helped to bridge the gap between Industry-Academia Interface.

Mr S.K.Tripathi (HOD, CE) proposed a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and emphasized the need for the Green building concept in the context of modern construction techniques.

Total 200 students along with all the faculties of the Civil Engineering Department attended the session in online modes and took benefits and gain knowledge about the Green building concept.
