About the Department

Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is a dynamic and rapidly evolving discipline that focuses on the design, development, testing, and deployment of electronic and communication systems. ECE engineers play a crucial role in conceptualizing, implementing, and supervising the manufacturing of electronic, communication, and broadcasting systems that enable fast, reliable, and efficient global connectivity. The discipline encompasses core areas such as basic electronics, microprocessors, analog and digital communication, integrated circuits, antennas, and wave propagation. It also contributes significantly to the design and production of modern electronic devices, circuits, and communication equipment. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Goel Institute of Technology and Management (GITM), Lucknow, was established in 2008. The department offers B.Tech (4-year) and M.Tech (2-year) programmes, both affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow. The department is supported by well-established laboratories, including the Electronics Lab, Communication Lab, PCB & Electronics Workshop, Integrated Circuit Lab, and Microprocessor Lab. These laboratories are equipped with modern testing and measuring instruments, hardware kits, and licensed software as per curriculum requirements. To strengthen digital and experiential learning, the department actively utilizes Virtual Labs, e- learning platforms, and online certified courses offered by IITs through NPTEL, SWAYAM, and Spoken Tutorials (IIT Bombay). GITM is an official nodal center of Virtual Labs, IIT Kanpur, an initiative of the Government of India. Since its inception, the department has shown consistent growth and has taken proactive initiatives to deliver quality technical education while fostering innovation and research aptitude among students. The department actively engages in teaching, research, and industry- oriented activities across emerging and interdisciplinary domains. Major research areas include Embedded Systems, Microelectronics and VLSI, Internet of Things (IoT), Signal Processing, and Communication & Networking. In recognition of student innovation and research efforts, one final-year student project was selected under the CST-UP Project Grant Scheme 2025 on a funding basis. Additionally, one student team was selected for the AICTE Productization Fellowship 2025 and successfully pitched their product at the Regional Meet 2025 held at Varanasi, organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, Government of India. Students of the department regularly qualify the GATE examination, and alumni are placed in reputed private-sector organizations, pursuing higher education at premier institutions, or successfully running startups. Faculty members are highly qualified, with significant contributions in journal publications and patents. The department also promotes creativity and holistic development through its quarterly E-cum- Wall magazine, showcasing students’ innovation, technical ideas, and literary skills under the URJA Departmental Student Club. Students have also secured positions in AKTU zonal- level technical and literary events, reflecting their all-round excellence.
